John Key at the United Nations

Watching John Key address the General Assembly of The United Nations reinforced my very firm belief that we are all capable of being anything we want to be.

Here’s a man who started is life from very basic beginnings. He lived in a State House and did not come from a pampered lifestyle. He had a desire and a goal and he followed his dream. Despite what you might think of his political viewpoint you have to admire his vision and drive to be the best he could be and to attain his goal.

What I really do like about New Zealand politicians is that generally they are just ordinary folks, and you can bump into them anytime. I once met Jenny Shipley out in Queen Street going to a show. New Zealand is one of those rare countries in the world where we can have personal contact with our politicians. You can see how ordinary, nice and full of pride for his country John Key is, in this clip from the Letterman show.

Surely that is what we should all strive to be. Follow your dream! Create that opportunity! Move your feet and overcome those boulders that sometimes block the pathway. It might create a little discomfort as you stretch yourself into the unknown but the end result is worth it. It is the price you pay to have arrived at that destination. Now here’s another challenge! The truly focused having achieved their goal then start out on a new journey of discovery. Of course we are all unique so we choose the path that suits us and our lifestyle.

Is there something you would like to achieve. Make today THAT time to begin. You might be pleasantly surprised at the feeling of achievement you will feel simply by beginning. I thrive on new challenges and I’m sure you will feel an increased level of satisfaction too!
