The Best of North Shore Homes for Sale

Modern Architecture

Monsters! So much of modern architecture today seems to be about size . New homes for sale on the North Shore seem to be huge! 5 or even more bedrooms, media rooms and great big impersonal living areas. Architects seem to believe that they must get the biggest house they can on to increasingly smaller lots and all these houses seem to be so…….so……..the same! Boring, big, ugly boxes filled with oversized furniture and an oversized person or two.

Why is it that the fewer people in the house, the bigger the house is? Have you noticed that? What is it about our society today that demands that empty nesters need huge homes on tiny pieces of land? Empty nesters don’t want these beasts, they want space for them, space to entertain, indoors and out, and not too expensive please, we need to plan for our retirement! Architects and builders take note!

Which brings me to my selection today! These are real homes with a little bit of style,  a little bit of difference, a lot of love and not too much money. Try them and see. Give me a call on 0800 61 8888 to view.

One of a Kind!

It was an absolute pleasure to walk into 10b Sunnynook Road. This is a new(ish) contemporary 3 bedroom family home privately and securely located down a right of way. High ceilings, cedar cladding, lots of glass and lots of sun. But what really works is the flow. In summer this home just flooooows outdoors into an outdoor entertainment area. Remember: Eat outdoors as often as you can, it’s good for the soul!

Nestled down a long right of way it’s a  delightful contemporary home which offers everything the empty nester could want – a quiet safe environment, and an ample sunny garden area for entertaining friends – with spacious open plan living, all rooms opening to the deck area.

The 3 bedrooms are doubles, two with walk in robes, the master with an ensuite. The home office/study could be a 4th bedroom. The kitchen/dining area is large enough to cater for a party, yet intimate and romantic too, all gas heated for those cold winter nights.

Cedar cladding is a reassuring feature, while high stud ceilings and heated bathroom floors are features which make this home comfortably liveable.

With regard to location, its fantastic! The bus stop is just a short walk, as are local shops, whilst Sunnynook shopping centre and Forrest Hill  are close by. The home is in Westlake zone and Sunnynook School is just round the corner. And if you fancy a game of golf, Pupuke Golf Club is a short walk away.

All in all, this is a special home — unique in style and bursting with features. If you like style and a little bit of difference in a modest Kiwi way this is a must see!

One of my regular clients (Joy has bought or sold 3 homes over the last 8 years using Harcourts and me) called me yesterday and asked me to sell her house. I was surprised, in many ways this was her dream home, but it’s time for her to move on. I can’t tell you the address, as it’s not officially on the market until Monday, 1st December, so if you would like a preview please call me on 0800 61 8888 and I will sneak you through before the rush!

To me, this home is a classic. It’s modern yet modest. It offers stylish, comfortable living to empty nesters wanting quality without spending a fortune, it represents the Kiwi way of life, practical, enduring, timeless, yet comfortable and stylish. You will be proud to live here and it won’t break the bank!

All rooms lead to a private, north facing courtyard bringing the outdoors and indoors together in a way that has become essential to the modern Kiwi way of life. Do you like flowers and a vege patch? It’s at your fingertips you green fingered greenie you!

Do you like entertaining your friends and family? The spacious indoor open plan living areas and outdoor courtyard will let your inner party animal out! And if they decide to stay the night (and they should) there’s 3 bedrooms and their own bathroom and they won’t disturb your beauty sleep in your master suite at the other end of the house, in your own private space.

The exterior is brick, time-honoured and permanent. The location is off Carlisle Road, private, quiet and secure a few minutes drive from Browns Bay and the Albany Megacentre.

Don’t forget, beat the rush and call me right away.
